THIS CLASS WILL RESUME IN SPRING 2021
THIS IS your LAST assignment!
- This LAST project will be a body of work (consisting of 8 images) demonstrating what you have learned in this course.
- You will need to FIRST write a STATEMENT that will drive your idea and your images. For example: "My investigation focuses on the idea that food is a way to explore many cultures around the world without leaving home". The images could be based on foods or prepared dishes that represent other cultures. There could even be images that demonstrate different place settings or traditional colors/ patterns of different cultures but it ALL must relate to the statement.
- 8 TOTAL IMAGES developed around a central THEME or idea. This is called a "Concentration" or "Sustained Investigation". Each image withing the group must show a different composition (how the photo is arranged) and help explain the common idea. They could be close up or far away, but should not repeat the same subject in the same way. For example, don't take a picture of a pear and then a picture of 2 pears- too similar.
- Images can ALL be in color (if it's needed) or ALL in black and white but stay consistent
- These need to be on a GOOGLE DOC with the Statement OR a GOOGLE SLIDE presentation. Slide 1 would have your name and Statement. Be careful NOT to distort images when resizing them!
- See example below:
Statement: "Tea time is a universal way for people to come together and communicate. Each scene depicts a different mood by using composition and lighting"
Digital Photography Agenda: May 4-8
Your assignment this week: DUE WEDNESDAY, MAY 13
- Make a NEW JOURNAL page on your website titled ARCHITECTURE OR send these to me on a ONE PAGE document (separate images take a while to go through and sometimes the file is too large to send). Make certain your images do NOT get distorted when resizing them on the document!
- 6 TOTAL IMAGES of Architecture. How can you make architecture interesting? What angles, overlapping of indoor or outdoor features, leading lines, how do you show depth? Consider how photographers make architecture aesthetically pleasing. One great place to look is in magazines or even realtor advertisements!
- Images can be INDOOR or OUTDOOR and play with different angles (close ups, various angles, look up, BE CREATIVE!)

Please read the article below and consider what it would be like to be a photojournalist covering the Coronavirus pandemic in a country as hard hit as Iran or Italy. How would you tell the journalistic story, but at the same time, remain thoughtful and empathetic of your fellow countrymen?
We live in a time where fake images are popping up everywhere. Fake images are like fake news and they make people distrustful of media as well as photographers. Photographers are finding that they often times have to DEFEND the reality of their photos. Click on the brief YouTube video below to help you learn more about how to spot a real or fake image (or maybe just to find out if it is a "new" image or an old one!)
